A Bone Deformity Correction course was recently organized at Pavia, Italy, jointly with our Italian Distributor Sintea Plustek S.R.L.., at the Instituto Di Cura Citta Di Pavia, on 28th & 29th March, 2014. Around 20 Italian surgeons from Pavia, Milan, Leco, Turin & Rome attended the course.
The course commenced at 8.30 AM on 28th March, with opening welcome remarks by Prof. Redanto Mora, who welcomed the delegates for the course & also explained the objectives of the course. He went on to introduce the main faculty for the course Dr. Leonid Solomin & thanked Sintea Plustek, as wellas, S H Pitkar Orthotools for supporting the training course.
Dr. Leonid Solomin, started with introductory lectures about the Ortho SUV Frame regarding how it was developed, its hardware, assembly, its software & biomechanics.
This was followed by hands on workshop under the guidance of Dr. Leonid & Dr. Mora, during which the delegates who were divided into groups of four each, acquainted themselves with various components of Ortho-suv Frame & assembled Ortho-suv Frame onto a bone model. They were guided by Dr. Leonid, about how to assemble, distract, as well as, compress the struts, how to attach struts to the supports directly or on to the Z Plates & how the length of struts / other parameters are measured.
Thereafter, following the presentation explaining various features of Ortho-suv Software, the delegates were then made to work on a common one bone model by the faculty. Under the guidance of the faculty the delegates went through the software step by step.
Thereafter, over the next one & a half days, the delegates went through a series of bone model workshops to correct Tibia with oblique plane deformity, Proximal Tibial deformity, Distal Femur Deformity. This was followed by two software workshops based upon X Ray images of actual cases, under the guidance of the faculty. Through these workshops, the faculty made sure that all the participants understood all the facets of the Ortho SUV Software. In between the workshops, Prof. Leonid also made presentations on the use of Ortho-suv Frame in Foot & Knee joint deformities, which were appreciated by all the participants. He also ensured that there were plenty of interactive sessions wherein the queries raised by the participants were replied to.

The course concluded at 4.00 PM on 29th March, following a brief concluding session.
The participants were presented with the attendance certificates duly signed by the faculty & the general feedback of the participants about the course was very positive.
